Types of Braces
Metal braces are the most commonly used type of brace. The technology used in making metal braces has come a long way and they are more comfortable and affordable than ever before. Metal braces are made of stainless steel and straighten your teeth using a combination of brackets and archwires.
Clear Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces offer the effectiveness of metal braces with the benefit of being less visible. This is a great option for patients that are concerned with the cosmetic look of having braces because they aren’t easily noticed, but maintain the effectiveness of metal braces. There are some downsides to ceramic braces, though. Patients have to be more careful and selective in the foods they eat because the ceramic is more brittle than their steel counterparts. Also, because they are larger, ceramics tend to be used more frequently on upper teeth rather than the lower teeth.
The Damon System facilitates healthy tooth movement with complete control. Tie-less braces help reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth and require fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.
Invisalign is a set of removable, comfortable, and invisible aligners used to straighten your teeth. Because they are completely transparent, nobody can tell you are wearing them. A major benefit of Invisalign is that they are removable, allowing you to eat and drink whatever you want while in treatment. Brushing and flossing are also much easier. Because the aligners aren’t made of metal, they are also more comfortable and gentle on the mouth.
